Sydney has the deepest padel scene in Australia. New courts have opened right across the city, from the Northern Beaches to the Hills District, and finding a game has never been easier.
Where the courts are
Sydney's venues are a mix of large indoor centres — which let you play through rain and summer heat — and outdoor courts. You will find clubs across the northern suburbs, the inner city and the west. Our Sydney court finder lists the venues we know, each tagged indoor or outdoor with a link to book or visit.
Indoor or outdoor?
Both play the same — the difference is comfort. Indoor courts are reliable year-round and shielded from wind, which makes for a steadier game. Outdoor courts are often cheaper and perfectly good outside the peak of summer. As a beginner, either is fine; pick whatever is closest.
What it costs
Court hire in Sydney is charged per court per hour, and most venues have cheaper off-peak rates. Split between four players, an hour of padel usually works out to a modest amount each — one of the cheaper racket sports to try. Many clubs also hire rackets for a small fee, so you do not need your own to start.
How to book and what to bring
Most venues take bookings online, and many run "social" sessions that pair up players who do not have a full group of four. For a beginner, a social session is the easiest way in — turn up, get matched, play. Bring court shoes, comfortable clothing and a racket, hired or your own.
Before your first game, read the beginners hub for the rules and scoring. Buying a racket? The racket finder quiz will point you to the right one.
